BACK CLINIC METHOD
The Back Clinic Method is an exclusive DLABMED for back and spine care. The method is born from the research and the know how of Dr. Claudia Granata and of the dott. Ugo De Santis who created, developed and perfected it, with the aim of fighting and eliminating back and neck pains and their causes. The Back Clinic Method is structured within a path divided into 6 steps.
Two physiatrists specialists, with over twenty years of experience and specific skills in the field of postural education, will assess your situation. If the origin of your back pain or of your cervical pain is due to a mechanical discopathy (and this happens in 80% of cases), the Back Clinic Method can be applied.
Reducing pain is important because, in addition to generating suffering, it induces the assumption of incorrect postures, called precisely antalgic, which almost always worsen the situation. To reduce pain we use the most modern instrumental therapies (Laser, Tecar, etc.).
HVS DECONTRACTING ELECTROTHERAPY
In addition to reducing pain, it is important to reduce muscle contraction caused by pain. The contracture is a defense mechanism, which triggers “automatically”. There is a very effective type of therapy, which is called Decontracting Electrotherapy and High Voltage Antalgic, HVS (High Voltage Stimulation) which has this effect: to loosen the muscular defense contracture and allow the patient to recover movement. On the neck, it is applied on the trapezoids. On the back, it is applied in the lumbosacral region.
EXERCISES according to McKENZIE
Some exercises, taught by the doctor, are very useful already in the acute phase, when the patient is blocked by an annoying loin-sciatica or no longer moves the neck. The purpose of these exercises is to help the disk “reposition” between the vertebrae, moving away from the spinal root that, if compressed, generates pain. Like all exercises, even these self-mobilization, must be prescribed by certified personnel, who performed courses in Italy and abroad. In our center, they are the two physiatrists specialists.
Reduced pain (with instrumental therapies), reduced muscle contracture (with HVS), recovered joint and mobility (with exercises in extension), we move into the gym to strengthen the muscles of the spine. The spinal muscles support the spine and form a sort of natural “bust”. The stronger they are, the more they support the column. The spinal muscles are reinforced by using a very easy gym machine called “Lower Back”.
BACK AND NECK SCHOOL
Back School means back school and Neck School means neck school. Already during the first physiatric visit, and then along the course of physiotherapy sessions, a whole series of information is provided on: 1) the anatomy of the vertebral column (how we are made, where is the problem, what is a hernia? ), 2) which positions (POSTURE) worsen the situation and which improve it (what happens when I sit down?), 3) how to avoid overloading the spine from a functional point of view, especially at work (computer, workstation, etc.). The course includes the delivery of educational material and an indication of the use of supports (roll, cushions, ergonomic seats, lecterns, etc.) to be used to protect the neck and back.
